Honor Each Other – Remember Sarah – Celebrate Community

Last Earth Day we gathered as a community to celebrate the life and legacy of Ms. Sarah Mogen. Ms. Sarah was the beloved Director and Lead Preschool Teacher at WPELC for over a decade. Ms. Sarah’s warmth and smile brought everyone together. She made everyone feel special.

In honor of Ms. Sarah, WPELC will set aside time each year to celebrate our coop.

The week leading up to Earth Day (04/15-04/22) will be a chance to reflect and remember the importance of community. It will be an opportunity to connect with people. It will be a chance to do something that makes your heart smile.

Our community matters. Take time to honor and appreciate its beauty. Here are some ways you can be part of this special week:

Write your teacher a love note. Hug your kids. Laugh out loud. Plant seeds and watch them grow. Say thank you. Surprise someone with flowers. Fly paper airplanes. Search for treasure. Take lots of pictures. Make playdough. Read children’s books. Dance when no one is looking. Search for heart shaped rocks. Listen to loud music. Cry when you are happy. Smile. Host a playdate. Call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. Introduce yourself to someone you don’t know. Pick up trash. Splash in puddles. Make a HUGE mess. Paint your face. Look at old photos. Volunteer. Make someone feel extra special.

Be creative and do what feels right.

At the top of the playground right outside of the fence is a tree that was planted in Sarah’s honor last spring. Tuck a note in the small box that is underneath the tree. We are excited to hear what you did during the week.
